Watching From The Shadows

Tonight's gathering in Washington, PA stirred up some memories for Russell and me. It was the Summer of 2003 when we arrived in Morgantown. We had recently finished raising our support among the churches and were ready to turn this city upside down.

How were we going to do it? Zeal, enthusiasm, prayer, and...a HomeTeam Kick-Off Party. :0) We had distributed around 1800 flyers door to door. Now these flyers were not your typical run-of-the-mill flyers. They were Outreach Marketing Door Hangers. Surely these were going to pay great dividends. So we thought!

Well, we had a total of twenty-seven people, but only one family (from Morgantown) out of the twenty-seven people in attendance were present. We had a great time, but was disappointed that more people did not attend. Looking back I can now say..."Welcome to Church Planting 101."

Tonight, as I watched from the shadows the Johnson's have done a great job of networking with the people of Washington. God brought several families to the event, and even some of the new folks have signed up for their small groups. I am proud to say that God will use these men if they will remain hungry, humble, and honest.
